Does anyone knows which flash is right for this camera and how is used?
Since there is no automation, you can use any flash. Just make sure it covers the same field of view that you would get with a 28mm lens on the 35mm film format.
I have a Canon 580.
Could it work ok?
How can it be connected with the lens?
Yes. Zoom the head to "28mm". For exposure, set it to manual mode. You'll either need a flash meter, or do calculations using the flash's guide number. As for mounting - does the camera not have a hot shoe? I used to have one but don't remember. I'm sure it does, so just mount the flash on it. If not, you'll need a hot-shoe-to-PC adapter - http://www.shopping.com/xPF-General-General-Brand-Hot-Shoe-To-Pc-Adapter
It does have both a PC socket and a hot shoe. The instructions are not clear what shutter speed should be used. although they say to use 1/30 if you're using a flash bulb.
Since it has a leaf shutter, you can shoot at any speed w/an electronic flash.
Thank you for your help Sheldon and Andrian.
The camera does have a hot shoe.
So, i can shoot at any speed i want, and this will be transmited to the flash throught the hot shoe?

Christos, sounds like you need to get a book on basic flash photography. You will be using the flash in manual mode on a manual camera, so there is nothing to be transmitted to the flash except the signal to fire it. So yes, you're good to go, BUT you'll need to determine the exposure based on your film speed, the aperture that you choose, the guide number of the flash, the power setting that you have it set to (full, 1/2, 1/4, etc), the distance to your subject, and any mix of ambient light that you want.
Thank you Sheldon.
It is thrue that i am used to use all these stuff like ETTL that all are made by the camera and the flash (Eos system).
So is the first time that i need to use all manual and is for that all my questions.
Anywhere you exlained very well what i have to do (compicated enough).
