hclim
I am thinking of the need to blow up images larger than 20"x24". Whichis a good view camera to start with at an affordable price, to do bothsimple fashion and simple product work?

ellis_vener_photography
If you can't find away to enlarge at very high quality, a medium format image made with a Hasselblad, Rollei, or Mamiya camera, you need to find better labs or sevice bureaus. <P>The standard studio camera for high end fashion photographers is a Sinar P2. The reasons are the precision and also the way it is designed to speed the photography process --it has tools built in to speed the determining tilts & swing angles and aperture selection for optimum sharpness. alex_hawley
Hon, as a fellow LF newbie, I would suggest most of the older, well built camera bodies are very viable and will save you lots of money. If you are making money with this, put the most money into the lens/lenses.
martin_pistor
Hi Ellis is nearly right, but I`d rather recommend an older, s.h. p model. Only two things were upgraded to the p2: separate coaxial knobs for swing and tilt instead of the "gear shift", and the movements are said to be smoother/easier. On the other hand, the p sell incredibly low nowadays. something starting from 1500,- EUS (without lens or shutter) with E-Bay.DE.
david_goldfarb
For 4x5" work with models, there is also the Gowlandflex TLR. Go to: http://www.petergowland.com/camera
andrewlamb
Do you want a view camera because you like working with one or because you think you need one to blow up images large than 20"x24"? If it's the latter reason I would suggest you can just as easily go for a medium format camera such as the Mamiya RZ as it is such a versatile system for both product and fashion. If you think you need movements how 'bout the Fuji 6x8? Fashion photography is a very strange thing. Technical quality is not always a prime concern. One of the world's leading fashion photographer's, Terry Richardson, quite often uses a Yashica T4 and photos from from that have used on posters the size of four storey buildings. I have seen them in Milan. I suggest you think long and hard before buying a view camera for fashion.
hclim
Thanks for the responses. I was thinking of the need for 50"x80" print with the audience pressing their noses against it.
