moore_photography
I'm looking for a step ring so that I can buy just one set of 43mm filters. The 40 and 75mm Voigtlander lenses both take 43mm filters, but the Voigtlander 21mm f/4 takes a 39mm filter. Is there a step ring from 39->43mm? I tried looking at B&H and keh.com, but I could not find any.
ben z
I have the 21 Voitlander. I found that the dinky ring they call a shade that comes with it is inadequate to keep the flare off outdoors when the sun is just outside the frame, and ended up buying the rectangular shade. I would not ever shoot that lens with a step-up ring and a bare filter and I don't know where I'd get an ultra-wide shade in 43mm as effective as the rectangular Voitlander shade. If it was me I'd resign myself to carrying 2 sets of filters.

dan flanders
I am certainly a believer in filter economy but it can be carried to the extreme. I had a situation similar to Ben's but with the 25 Skopar and the little bitty ring was totally ineffective so I bought Gandy's shade and found it completely satisfactory, even with a 39mm UV filter (I usually remove the filter unless in a great hurry). jerry_lehrer
Jeremy, SRB does not list that size, or in any 39mm stuff, BUT they will gladly machine one to order. It will cost about as much as 3 or 4 39mm filters. Jerry

jerry_lehrer
John, Sure, get that 39->46 step-up ring and then get a 46->43 step-DOWN ring, and Bob's your uncle! Jerry
moore_photography
It looks like a no-go on the step-ring then. I thought about having one machined, but have just decided to go with buying another set of filters (at least 39mm filters are cheap, light, and small) as I just ordered the replacement rectangular hood for the 21mm from Gandy. miles_s.
A good place for step-up and step-down rings is The Filter Connection (http://www.2filter.com). They sell filters too.
Rob F.
" . . . and Bob's your uncle!" ---Never heard that one before! Jeremy: If you don't need too many filters, might it make more sense to just leave your most-used filter on the 21mm? The adapters might cost near as much as the filter. ola_solvang1
Try the german company Heliopan, http://www.heliopan.de/ They make all kinds of filters/steprings. Also centerfilters - an essential gadget if you plan to use your 21mm for landscape-photography. (eliminates falloff)Ola Solvang
