john_james5
Can anyone help me where is the right place to buy a nikon D80 or D200.Im scared to buy online for some grey market quality. But they are so tempting cause of their prices specially at expresscameras or bestpricecameras.comfor their fraction price for these cameras. Is it the same quality when walking to any authorized dealers anywhere?Though they the price is totally different online. kuryan_thomas
Those places are outright frauds. Do yourself a huge favor. Don't go near them with a 200- ft pole. Buy online from reputable dealers such as B&H or Amazon.com.
joseph_smith3
I have bought much Nikon gear very successfully at Hunts Photo and Video. I call them and speak to Gary Farber. Joe Smith
Matt Laur
John, use this web site:

ResellerRatings.com

and search by store name. You'll see that those guys with the cheap prices are Big Fat Liars. They'll take your money, and then hold off (indefinitely) on shipping your purchase unless you agreee to pay grossly too much for overprices accessories... some of which actually ship from Nikon with the camera in the first place. If bigger companies like B&H or Circuit City or Adorama COULD sell it to you cheaper, they would - because they have legit competition. These other guys with the too-good-to-be-true prices are scam artists.

graybrick
Buydig.com has competitive prices and good customer service in my experience. Or B&H or Adorama. In these deals, look for and read the fine print. Look for a 'what's in the box?' link. Make sure you're getting everything that's sent from the manufacturer. If you can't find it or you're not sure about it, and there's a really low price, they're not telling you something. In the case of the stores you mention, I think the deal is the camera is one price, then the battery is $150 and the battery charger is another $150. Oh, yeah, then there's the strap and user's manual, whatever software you're supposed to get, and the 'extended warranty' for another $400-500. By the time you actually finish putting the package that the manufacturer sells, you'll be well over the too-good-to-be-true prices they advertise. It's a scam, plain and simple. As always, if it sounds too good, it is.

afs760bf
Just a personal experience, I guess, but I would NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER buy anything from Buydig.com. I read the Bizrate ratings and Pricegrabber ratings and believed them, so recently ordered a lens from them. Web site said it was in stock. Email I got said it would be shipped in one to two days. After four days, no tracking number. I called. Sorry, it wasn't in stock. They didn't bother to let me know. I cancelled the order. The guy told me it would be cancelled and my Paypal payment refunded within three hours. Next day nothing had happened. I called. Sorry, I can cancel the order now, but you'll have to wait in line for refund. Took a week. They took an order for an item they said they had in stock, told me they were shipping it, kept my money for a week, and never did have the item or do anything about providing one. I ordered from B&H. They shipped the next day. Why don't I ever listen to myself? Yes, it cost me a few more bucks, but I learned my lesson until the next time I feel like being stupid. Cheers. sandysocks
Camera shops, electronics stores, or Costco often have the same price as B&H. Just compare the price and go to town to save on time and shipping. Inspect the camera right on the spot.
roy_des_ruisseaux
While I feel sorry for Barry and that might turn me off to BuyDig I bought a Canon 20D from them about a year & a half ago with no problems and it was slightly less than B&H or Adorama. Then last Oct. I got a 10-22mm Canon lens from them. Again a bit less than B&H or Adorama plus I got the $15.00 rebate. So from my experience BuyDig is OK. afs760bf
I agree with Mr. Potts, as well. I got my K10D kit from my local pro shop cheaper than B&H price, and I bought a Sigma 18-200 there for the same price as on-line, after trying out the Sigma and Tamron. Also bought the big Pentax flash cheaper there. And I keep my salesperson happy that way.
robert_m_johnson
My email to B+H "I am wondering why your shipping cost for a N3260W 32" LCD TV is $164.OO and everywhere else it is around $50.00 to ship the same item? I have been a loyal customer but I will REALLY think twice about buying from you in the future! By paying OVER a hundred dollars more for shipping, I feel like I was ripped off! I thought your company was better then that scam!" Then I was called by the shipping Co to expect a delivery on a certain day at a certain time. I took the day off from work and I was available before the delivery time. No delivery! I was then called and was told it would be delivered the next day. No can do! At that point I called B+H and refused delivery. They were nice and understood why I was refusing delivery. Well, this all happened OVER a month ago now. Today I called them and was told the money would be back in my account minis delivery charges both ways! WTF! Update, after ANOTHER call they are looking into my complaints once again! I will let you know what happens, after 3-4 MORE business days! Trust No One...
robert_hooper1
Why did you consummate the deal if you thought shipping was exorbitant?
robert_m_johnson
Not only was the shipping charge through the roof, the product itself was priced higher there then other places. They did not even attempt to send it for almost a week, for $164.00? During this time my family purchased a 32 inch lcd tv, delivered the next day. A 50 inch plasma tv from Circuit City, delivered on time as promised! I did not even mention the gift that I bought online before Christmas with 2 day shipping that was delivered two days after Christmas. This is an issue that started with a poorly run delivery service and snowballed. I will let u all know what happens...
don_gillette
Hi John: The last place I would buy is e-bay or some of the east coast stores, but not all. I have had great success with KEH camera in atlanta, The equipment I have purchased always exceeded their rating of used equipment. Don
