Unique Photo in NJ just released this press release:
Fairfield, N.J., March 30, 2009 - Unique Photo, Inc., has received the very last shipment of Polaroid film ever made this week. The shipment arrived at Unique’s warehouse on March 30, 2009. Polaroid, founded in 1937 by Edward H. Land, was most famous for its instant film cameras, which reached the consumer market in 1948 and continued to be the company’s flagship product until its decision last year to cease all production in favor of digital photography products. Unique Photo is the largest film supplier in the United States and has enjoyed its 62 year relationship with the Polaroid Corporation and looks forward to helping it's loyal customers moving forward with their instant photographic needs.
They do mail order: http://store.uniquephoto.com/e/index.php/

Derek your choices are: Fuji FP-100B - ISO 100 B&W, Fuji FP-100c ISO 100 Color or FP-3000B ISO 3000 B&W. This is 3.25" x 4.25" pack film same as 600 series Polaroid. Check B & H, Freestyle and Adorama.

CVS still has it in West Newton. It's the European one though and has a sticker on it saying "final edition." It's obscenely priced at $19.99 US. I just looked at Adorama and that's even higher. You might want to think about a packfilm camera. You can do transfers and lifts and lots of cool stuff and it is (the fuji type, the same thing) cheaper than the integral 600 film.

It's sad to think, when only about 5 or 6 years ago you could have walked into pretty much any store and bought a pack of Polaroid film for $10 :(

And yeah, Patrick, I've seen "The Impossible Project" website, and I really hope they can do it. I'll definitely support them.
