tycho_asna
I'm looking for lights for my digital camera EOS 1D MkII beside studio flashes and strobes (own hensel e series), and thinking of continual lights (lowel cold lights propably or other manufacturer). Can they produce equally good lighting quality?

jurie
Tycho,
Oil lamps.
Seriously though, I would say that with digital, because you can tweak the white balance however you want, I would look more to what modifiers (grids, softboxes, 'brollies, etc) are available for the system instead of what the light source is. As long as it covers a relatively wide spectrum, you should be able to simply tweak the white balance to acommodate for the temperature of the lights. I've seen some compact flourescent (speeling??) lights that work excellently as far as light output goes, but the ones that I've seen have shite-all for modifiers, so I probably wouldn't pick them up myself.
As long as the lighting system offers the accessories you need, it should work fine. Long live the digital revolution!
S'cuse me, I've got a roll of HP5+ to soup now ;-)

Jordan R. Urie
christian_lutz
Flashlight corresponds to the daylight from the spectrum. Thus you have the few problems. If you are working outdoors you should use battery-operated flash units (e.g. Hensel Porty etc.). For digital photography it is important that the color temperature is as constant as possible. Barry Thomas
Are you thinking of this kind of continuous light? I use these for photographing my silver and they are fine. Of course I want something bigger and better and some large softboxes, but space and budget are tight at the moment and these work well.
