What kind of filter is CR1.5

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

With my latest lens a filter came along. It has the engravings

ERNST LEITZ WETZLAR GERMANY, and is marked CR1.5.

Dimensions are 39 mm. Colour slightly brownish. Is it a skylight

(I don't think so though), or what? How is it best used? Does it

require exposure compensation?

Glad for any input on this!

Greetings

Hans

CR1.5 is indeed the B+W designation for a skylight filter. B+W are part of Scheider

Kreutznach and have, as I understand made filters for Leica. I cannot find my B+W

catalogue so visit their web site for exact technical details. A simple google should

find it.

Hope this helps, Craig

Indeed these are the standard skylight filters from B+W. The CR or KR 1.5 is equivalent to a skylight 1A. I have them also, one currently on top of the Rokkor-M 40/2 in my bag.
