george_carpenter1
I was rummaging around in my shop and came across a couple of old envelopes of Ilford's ID-11 Plus. I remember that I used this in the 80s and was quite pleased with it. However, it seems it is no more and there just isn't anything on the web, either.
What is its formula and is there a chemical that can be added to the present ID-11 to get an approximation of ID-11 Plus?
leicaglow
George, I can't recall what the "plus" meant. Ilford seems to be fast and loose with "plus"es and "X"es. ID-11 is pretty much D-76, but I don't know what Plus is.
thirteenthumbs
Google advanced search keyword ID11 plus in the exact wording box resulted in 181 hits with the fifth being
http://www.photography-forums.com/id11-plus-t93397.html which has this link
http://www.usask.ca/lists/alt-photo-process/1999/oct99/0358.html which explain it well.
george_carpenter1
Charles,
Thanks so much for that link; it has solved most of the problem. I had run across the mentioned ingredient, Cinnamic acid disulfide, in an MSDS sheet. It was listed, in typical devious fashion, as 1-5%. I had balked at accepting the source and the numbers because I was not certain that was what I was really after. Now, because of your link, I can accept it, and make my own. That is assuming, of course, that I can find the chemical.
