What ever happened to the Sigma DX 18-35 fast zoom

I know that there are member of this site that work for Photo shops, and
still more that have acquaintances who sell gear. Does anyone
know why a lens that was announced with great coverage on April 18th
still has not an announced MSRP and availability date?
I am not looking for speculation or rumors here, in fact I figure someone
here knows something solid.

I saw the original announcement on Dpreview, and the first set of photos.
I think I posted the first set's link here on this forum.

Still no lnfo on pricing and availability, one would think since this is just
before Fathers Day, graduation season, wedding season and the
start of vacation season that the product announced almost two months
ago would at least get a release date. Meanwhile the new Art lenses
for 60mm, 30mm, 35mm, 19mm were announced and are being sold.
Maybe Sigma is so busy launching new products that this is just lost
in the rush of new product.
I personally think this is a bigger deal than the great 35mm lens
Sigma that is selling well in the market.
The 18-35mm f1.8 will replace quite a few lenses and at more than a stop
faster than 2.8 zooms, its going to be a big winner for Sigma.
I bet that Canon and Nikon are designing their answer to this lens right now.
If I were Sigma I would be thinking that ASAP I would want to be selling
it while they are the only one in the market with such a fast zoom to sell.

I am sure that Sigma is doing their very best to get it out as soon as possible for the very reasons you suggest.

Often someone (usually not an actually responsible person) such as a manager or marketer decides that something is so close to being finished that it can be announced. Last-minute hitches in production or design usually, not just often, occur.
