What camera(s) are you using this weekend?

  1. I had an FE2 out last weekend, to finish up the roll from earlier in the year.

After a few shots, the mirror didn't come back after a shot, though I don't know if the shutter stayed open or closed.

I turned the knob to M250, and the mirror returned.

Seems that the battery has enough to open the shutter and mirror up, but not finish it.

If I press the button to turn on the meter, it goes up to the right spot, and then immediately back down.

So, the last few pictures on the roll taken with the M250 setting.

I don't remember now which battery this is, maybe the one that came with it, or from another camera.
I didn't buy a new one for it.

Finished up the roll of Gold 100 (GA).

  2. Glen, the MS76 that it takes is available in both alkaline and silver. I recommend silver if you can find it.

  3. I always used the lithium DL1/3N for my FM, but I don't expect to use the FE2 quite that much.

I have a few old cameras that were designed for Hg batteries now have alkaline cells.
The calibration might be a little off, but close enough for black and white film.

  4. Car camping along the coast is the plan, so the Blue MF's & a Fed-2 will be in the truck cab. Bill Rec III-horz.jpg

  5. There's both a living history event and a militaria fair I'd like to visit this weekend. If the weather keeps.
It'll give me a chance to finally finish up that roll of fomapan in the KW Pilot-Super. And I have an Olympus PEN F and 100mm f/3.5 Zuiko I have to test.

  6. I may take my first shot with a 4x5 Calumet rail camera with an Ilex Caltar 215mm f/6.5 courtesy of our extremely generous Bill Bowes.

    Thanks again, Bill!

  7. Ping to Bill, above. Happy Trails!

  8. Just remember to stand on your head when composing thru the ground glass. Left is right & right is left. . up is down & down is up. . . . Viewing Johnny Depp in "Alice in Wonder Land" should get your brain synced with the view camera. . . watch for the Yellow cat!. Bill

  9. I find it easier to turn the camera upside-down...

  10. Got out the Minolta XE-5 this morning and loaded it with Kentmere 100. Currently have 50mm f1.4 MC Rokkor attached.

  11. Here's an older shot of the XE-5 except I have the f1.7 lens on it in this photo. This camera would probably get a BGN rating at KEH.

  12. Rick, how come no one ever told me that at Brook's ??? Even at A.A. (no, not the bottle kind) seminar's nothing was mentioned. . .oh, all those lost moments!!! Bill

  13. Is that better or worse than TLR or the little right angle viewfinders on Kodak (and other) folding cameras and many box cameras?

For those up is still up, and down is down, but right is left, and left is right.

  14. I believe some Brits call that "half cocked".

  15. I have a film to finish in a Mamiya 645 1000s, and I thought I might run a film through a Topcon RM300, a camera I don't use very often. Of course, Topcon fans will point out that this is not a real Topcon, apparently having been made by Cima Kogaku with a Pentax PK mount, but it's a pleasant camera to use with it's nice bright viewfinder which features a red/green LED display from the CDS meter. With the addition of the winder the camera has an agreeable heft, and handles very well.

  16. Off on a long weekend with the family to the coast. Weather's going to be grey mostly.
    Bringing the Leica M3 DS (with 50mm f/3.5 Elmar-M) and the Leica M-E (with Summarit 50mm f/1.5)

  17. Today (Friday) my "new" Zorki -Jupiter8 & a Fed-2 with the Jupiter-12 (35mm wa) will cover the Port Susan Farmers Market. Sat & Sun I am going to gulp a brave pill & load a roll of Fuji 100 in the mentioned Fed & wonder about with the "new" lenses (35mm & 135mm Jupiter-11). . . Fall colors are here! Time permitting, another roll of the Kodak so2238 will be tested...perhaps even scanned!! Bill

Weather has cleared up in time for Balloon Fiesta--hope to finish a roll of Ektar 100 in the FED 4, and maybe take along the Praktica MTL 50 with a mirror lens for some tele shots.

  19. I will finish up the roll of Kentmere 100 that I started in my Minolta XE. Currently attached is the Sigma 135mm f3.5 mini tele. Also have my 28mm Minolta MD Celtic in the bag too. My parents gave me this lens for Christmas in 1979. Still works and looks great after all these years.

  20. I just finished a roll of Pan F+ in my F6 and started a roll of 400TX (Tri-X) in one of my FM2n Nikons.
