We've upgraded the Photo.net image uploader...

Tired of dealing with the annoying java updates, slow loading and old school folder navigation of the Photo.net image uploader? Me too!

But Jin the wizard has saved us. We've upgraded the uploader. It runs on Flash and loads lightning quick. Don't have Flash? No worries, there's an auto-detect that will run an HTML5 version. And guess what, the HTML5 version will allow you to upload directly from your iPhone or other iOS device (I believe you need iOS 6 for this however). Folder navigation is MUCH better and you now can upload images from multiple folders on your computer at a time.

Any questions or bug reports, please let me know. So far things have been running well, but I'd like to know if anyone sees anything wonky.

Onward and upward!

Yes. The HTML5 uploader does not capture EXIF at the moment. We are working with the plugin company to see what the deal is with that. That message will appear to anyone who is using the HTML5 uploader and does not have anything to do with any trouble you are having.

What exactly happens when you try to upload with IE9? Do you have Flash installed? Does anything load?

Unable to upload Photos to my Workspace with "New" Uploader

I'm Windows XP with IE 8

Get the following Error;
"Error #2032
Package upload Error: httpStatus = 500 response = 'No file uploaded.'"

Not knowing what to expect, although I did read Josh's post at the beginning of this thread.
Initially I noted that my attempted "Thumbnail" upload was only showing the image as an Icon although I did have "Thumbnail" selected. Then when trying to complete the operation, the above Error #2032 shows up under the details.

I also did the link that Josh provided to Hans-Peter, and here's what I got if it will let me paste it.

JavaScript Flash Detection Library (Flash Detect) (Version 1.0.4)

Would appreciate some help too!

I'll wait awhile before I try the "Single Photo uploader" as someone did in another thread. However, I'd prefer not to use it as it appears to handle the images different upon the upload.

Thanks,
Jim j.

Hans,

It is not a "HMTL5 package", it is a Flash based uploader that has an HTML5 uploader as a backup for browsers that do not support Flash (iOS being the most common of those) or for people who do not have Flash installed for whatever reason.

I have no idea why your IE is not pulling up the Flash version of the uploader as it should be. I am not hearing that issue from anyone else.

Yes, we tested it in IE9. Just to be sure, I went and tested it again. It worked fine.

No, we did not test every combination of browsers and operating systems. That isn't feasible.

I'll say it again, there is some reason that your browser isn't loading up the flash version. It shouldn't be trying to find the HTML5 version unless the Flash version isn't supported. IE supports Flash just fine.

Jim, I received your file, the issue is with the file/uploader and not your browser. I see the same problem, too. I will investigate.

Hans, you should be getting the Flash uploader and not the HTML5 one, I will look into why you are not.

Jin,
Any progress?
I've tried several times to use the "Upload Photos" with the same results I described previously.
Or, am I stuck with only the ability to use the "Basic Single Photo Uploader?"

Thanks much,
Jim j.

I'm better now. The problem is not what I thought originally. I have opened up a case with Aurigma, the people who wrote the uploader, and will implement a fix as soon as I can. If there continues to be an issue, I will make an alternate ActiveX/Java downloader available so nobody is left using the basic uploader.

Jin,
Will I continue to have to come back to this page for the link you provided each time I wish to download a photo?

Today was the second time I've used it. It works fine, but I seem to have to come back here to use the link. What will I do when this thread expires?

Is there a way I can paste the link somewhere in "Manage My Portfolio" so I can continue to download when this thread is gone?

I'm having my doubts about your finding this posting now that this thread is getting "long in the tooth" but, we'll let it ride a day or so before we start a new thread in the "Help" forum.

Thanks and sorry for the bother,
Jim j.

Jim, the need for the "alternative" uploader should go away with the next version of the uploader, which should come out sometime this month. Until then, I suggest you bookmark the alternate uploader. (The URL is the same as the regular uploader page, just add "?alternate=1" to it.)

Actually...no. Then again, I usually only upload two or three photos at any one time. This seems like just another gimmick to make photo.net appear "cutting edge". What's the big deal especially since it seems infested with bugs. Seriously, what's so great about being able to upload multiple images at one time from various devices like iPhones and iPads? Like you have this photo that's so important it just must be uploaded now...it just can't want until you get home.

Sorry, I'm not impressed.
