Weston Ranger 9 battery?

<p>I need to replace the battery in my Weston Ranger 9 meter. What is the best replacement for the unavailable mercury battery?</p>

<p>One option is to send it to Quality Light Metric where he will recalibrate it, adjust it to use available silver batteries and maybe even add an original manual and an incident cone attachment. That's what I did with my two.</p>

<p>I did the same as Chauncey and am happy. Various workarounds I read about on the Internet didn't work for me.</p>

<p>Thanks. Looks like that is the way to go. I have also tried other batteries and adapters but have never been satisfied with any of them. Looks like the best thing to do is get it done right.</p>

<p>Two years ago I found an outfit that sold the Varta V14PX battery. I bought two . The first is working out very well so far.<br>

Previously, I had been using two CRIS adapters with #286 cells. The adapter reduces the voltage of the series<br>

pair to 2.7 Volts.<br>
