mikehegarty01
Added contrast and a sharpen mask then used levels to reduce to black and white. Then used that as an overlay layer.
Gerald Cafferty
Basic adjustments in LR, opened in Elements, increased canvass at rear of plane, used clone tool to eliminate overhead cables and their shadows. Opened in Silver Efex and used a modified Antique Plate preset to produce result here.
michaellinder
Added contrast and a sharpen mask then used levels to reduce to black and white. Mike, I'm just curious. Do you usually use levels to desaturate the colors rather than converting to b&w?
michaellinder
I know . . . I'm late to the party. Initially I opened the image in ACR and reduced vibrance by 30%, knowing I'd ultimately convert the image to b&w. Then PSE15 I adjusted levels primarily to dramatize the shadows and to slightly reduce the highlights output. On to Silver Efex for the conversion to b&w. Then finished in Color Efex, using a vintage film option. Finally, fyi, I decided to retain the utility lines to maintain the realistic feel of the image.
