  1. You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension.

I dove into the archives again for this one, scanned from Ektachrome 400 (Olympus OM-2). This is Mt. Kenya, from about 16,000 ft. To me, this image is particularly memorable because it came embarrassingly close to being the last photo I ever made. A few minutes later the clouds moved in and everything turned white...what could possibly go wrong?

  2. Half Dome, Yosemite. Only a few patches of snow left by late spring. Taken from the Glacier Point trail with no apparent danger except running out of steam.

  3. I shot this photograph in Red Rock Canyon, Nevada, using my first digital camera (a Panasonic Lumix "bridge camera"). PS My only risk would have been the result of slipping on a thin layer of snow. 10818535-orig copy.jpg
  4. Knocked over by a strong gust of wind was a possibility during this brief snow squall at the Grand Canyon.

  10. Scan-180306-0011.jpg Langdale valley, Cumbria. Near the end of a day's walk in the hills. Beautiful weather, if a little cold...One of the few times I could indulge in taking as many pics as I liked, as I was on my own! This one was with Velvia slide film. I think it captures the mood well.

  11. Greg, I am embarrassed to admit that I had to do a quick search to find out where Cumbria is located. Aside from your own observation, I am taken by the hints of highlights in the image.
