Leslie Reid
You are invited to upload one or more of your landscape photos and, if you’d like, to accompany your image with some commentary: challenges you faced in making the image? your intent for the image? settings? post-processing decisions? why you did what you did? the place and time? or an aspect you’d like feedback on? And please feel free to ask questions of others who have posted images or to join the discussion. If you don’t feel like using words, that’s OK too—unaccompanied images (or unaccompanied words, for that matter) are also very much welcomed. As for the technicalities, the usual forum guidelines apply: files < 1 MB; image size <1000 px maximum dimension. Well, it’s not the image I’d planned to post, but it’s a good intro to my cautionary tale: the external 6T hard-drive with all my photos on it just failed. I’m delighted to say that with my over-abundance of paranoia, that’s no big deal, since all the images are backed up on another drive [actually, two other drives, but I’d never admit that]. I’ll be relinking the Lightroom catalog to the images on a new drive tomorrow, but in the meanwhile, here’s one that I already had stored on the internal hard drive—a typical coastal summer sunrise. Sometimes you've just gotta go with the centered composition...

michaellinder
Shame about the helicopter ... Tony, your post expresses one of the "occupational hazards" of NW. Without narrative posted with an image, we have no way of knowing the photographer's intent for it.

samstevens
I kind of like the helicopter. It adds a touch of zest to the scene. I'm more curious to know if you shot this through glass or a window of some kind, because there almost seems to be a reflection throughout, especially noticeable in the sky. I suppose it could also be a case of a lot of sensor dust or artifacting that got introduced somewhere along the way. 2 "You talkin' to me?" Tony Parsons
I left it in because of the contrast between modes of transportation and it helps give a sense of scale to the Capitan Miranda I understand and totally accept this - I was not criticising your image or skills, but being myself antient (and decrepit !) I prefer images concentrating on more traditional forms of transport. Just my personal view - but I love the Tall Ship.
DavidTriplett
I prefer images concentrating on more traditional forms of transport. There are enough very modern components (like the light poles in the parking lot) that the helicopter does not seem incongruous. Perhaps the tall ship is the bit which is most intriguing, but perhaps because it is so timeless.
