Karim Ghantous
Some of you might follow Big Head Taco (Take Kayo), a Canadian photographer & reviewer, on social media. He's applying for a grant to do a documentary series on film photographers. If you like the idea, you can vote for his application here: The Analogue Photography Series: Film is Still Alive The analogue film community is alive and thriving. We're going to prove it by creating a documentary series, interviewing and documenting a variety of film photography figures. We will interview working professional film photographers, commercial photo labs, and camera stores that specialize in analogue photography. You can vote once per day for the remaining two days. Colin O
I don't get it. What are we voting for? What are we voting against? If this idea gets 1 billion votes, what happens? Does it win some kind of budget or something? From whom?
rodeo_joe1
Why use the tautology "analogue" and "film" in the same sentence? I personally wouldn't vote for anyone that uses the contestable and divisive phrase "analogue photography" at all! It shows a complete lack of technical understanding of how wet process photography works; which is by generation of discrete deposits of silver or dye. About as "analogue" as a stained-glass window or a painting by numbers kit. Edited September 20, 2017 by rodeo_joe|
Karim Ghantous
Just a note for those who might be interested: Take Kayo won the grant. So thank you to those who voted for him. He now has the opportunity to apply for larger grants down the line. I'll let you all know when he releases his finished product.
