OK kids, this is it, the time has arrived, no turning back now. Time to abandon your sense of high art, modesty and decorum..
Im in the last photo with my Russian friends. :*) http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=005cAh
These two photos, clearly showing the ravages of time, are separated by about 30 years. The first one (badly scanned from an old print) was taken with my trusty Pentax K1000, still in serivice today. The second was taken with my M3 + Summitar, much older than the Pentax but in better shape.

Well, my portrait will reveal something I keep secret... I can`t hide it for more time... yes guys... you see... I - C A N - F L Y... !!! Cuac-cuac... ! Cuac-cuac... ! Yiiieeeeep... !
Ray, what makes you think of the M8? I only see one shot, and it looks pretty good to me. You could definitely see examples against a lot of great cameras here.
I learned that flashes and glasses are a messy combination, but here is my Leica IIIf RD with Jupiter 12 and CV finder, supported by its owner.
I was lacking in some motivation...

I will never figure out this image system. My image was small enough to appear inline. Maybe it must have a caption.
Some days when I go shooting with a fifty, it's a 50 cal flintlock burning black powder. ;-) M4, 50mm Summi
Wow, Glenn. Jeri, what were you doing in Tel Aviv, and what kind of car is that? George, nice looking home..
"Jeri, what were you doing in Tel Aviv, and what kind of car is that?" Ray, For last couple years I'm living in Tel Aviv. The car is the 1968 Peugeot 404 Cabriolet, designed by Pininfarina.
Beck to business; 2 more self portraits The first one, some holes in the holy grilled shutter. Camera: M2 with Summitar 50mm f/2 Leica M2 with 35mm F/2
FUN thread Ray, thanks for starting it... Here's one shot during my last CLA. I'm the one with open mouth. ;-) M4, 15mm CV, Fuji400

This picture of me breaking a board, taken by a friend in 2006, shows why men fear me and women want me ... in my dreams.

Lived in Connecticut for a couple of year. Love those ice storms...to look at and photograph. Here's another car shot.
all jokes apart, some great great shots here.and me thinking photography was finally dead on the lpf...
"Who Are You?" On June 27, 1999 I initiated a thread similar to Ray's titled: "Who Are You?" It was a mixture of photos and descriptions, since we had not as yet created the No Words concept. There have been additions to this thread through 2001. If you're an early photonetter, you might want to take a look. I see a number of familiar friends. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=000V89
PS: Ray, Forgot to say that I also think this is a good thread and hope it continues. Unfortunately the W/NW threads will meet a sudden death. Sad. I think this kind of presentation helps build community. Even if we have problems with management, and PN changes, and rules, and sometimes with each other, this type of thread lets us know that we are all living feeling persons and not just invisible talking fingers.
Sandy S. did something similar a while back. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=004n2V
Good thread people. It's nice to see all your smiling faces.. Travis should be showing up soon, and I hope more. Hope there isn't anyone on the outside looking in thinking they're too good for this.. Let your guard down and be willing to make a bit of a fool of yourself. Turning the camera in your direction presents a unique set of issues... In some ways I think it can be more difficult than anything else photographic.
Show the equipment a bit better. M8, Olympus 16/3.5 Fisheye + Oly. to Leica adapter, and Voigtlander right-angle finder (15mm).
Oops, that's not me. Does brighten up the page a bit though, doesn't it? Maybe this will work. Self-Portrait, Copyright 2004 Jeff Spirer
Jeff, to link an image here from another site: 1. Type 2. Bend over and put on fishnet stockings ... You of all people should have this down pat by now
(Quoted in a Dr Evil voice) "I shall call this one ... Many-me" It's amazing how much fun you can have in the bathroom with a camera and a flashlight after your wife's gone to bed! ;-)
Brighten up the page? Are you insinuating this thread looks like the audience in the PBS pledge drive show of old folkies like Judy Collins, Kingston Trio, Smother's Brothers etc that is at the moment putting me to sleep?
Damn, even one chick could post. Wouldn't hurt ya would it? Oops, forgot, right. Women are too smart. No self-respecting woman would waste her time being a Leica geek....
Damn, even one chick could post. Wouldn't hurt ya would it? Yeah ... too many Leicanos and not enough Leicanas!

Okay, let's try one more time. Trust me, I'm not as dumb as I look.

Now that I got the hang of it... ANOTHER MIRROR SHOT. It's fun seeing all you folks. Pretty cool.

A little bit of this, A little bit of that. No one has been hurt during the shots.. Hexar RF, 15m f/4.4
<< ... Damn, even one [woman] could post. ... >> Don't know how to break it to you, Ray, but I think chances of that happening pretty much went down the tubes with that first photo. Not saying mine helped either.
Nice one Travis.. Alex, there you go- great! I liked yours Tom, with caption, and all the rest of you- good job.
As for you Michael, isn't it obvious to you it was every other dude here that ruined it for the two of us? Wake up fella, your shadow and back of the head are very handsome.
nice shot travis, but a pentax?? to quote marlon brando in "apocalyse now"....."the horror, the horror"....
<< ... Only in the Leica Forum would somebody have to explain what the phrase selfportrait means. ... >>
Well, that was broadened by Ray, in one of the posts announcing and promoting this thread, so both self-portraits and photos taken by others are fair game:
*********************
Jack Kelly ... feb 05, 2007; 12:43 p.m.
I'll play, but please clarify the rules. Are you looking for self-portraits taken by the member, or portraits taken of the member by others, using the member's camera? (or something else, or either??)
Ray . ... feb 05, 2007; 01:19 p.m.
either.
***********************
Hmmm, looks like Alex and SP got somethin goin on. Maybe we should do a girlfriend/wife/ boyfriend/husband/ex-girlfriend/ex-wife/ex-boyfriend/ex-husband thread?
When you say "SP and Alex got somethin goin on," I hasten to point out that the other person in SP's photo doesn't look anything like Alex to my eye.
oops, please don't report me to the moderator for starting a rumor. I'll even lie to you that I agree that first pic isn't one handsome devil.
No offense to Alex, but he's not quite my type, but based on the some of the shots he gets I'd gladly hang out with him for a while. As for my image, the sad truth is the copious quantities of beer made fuzzy the memory of exactly who it was who kindly invited Santa to see how smooth her sweater was...but all is not lost I'm certain it's has to be one out of a circle of friends. Someday I'll ask.
Alex - The picture of you, your wife (I assume - my apologies if I'm wrong or assume too much) and the bears is a really beautiful and touching photograph. Congratulations (for the photograph and the wonderful life!).
Thanks Gordon. That's my wife Sawako, who often appears in my photography. In this shot we are both suffering from colds.
