Firstly, I must say that I usually don't react to children photos because most of the time I find them, as Mike Dixon has said, either trite or boring -- no matter how proud their parents are of the pciture of the child. Secondly, I recently started a thread on the GetDPI Small Sensor Forum on how highly blurred backgrounds "to isolate the subject" are usually gimmicky or trite.
