W/NW 2021 Pic-O'-The-Week #30

  1. Welcome to Week 30 of the Leica and Rangefinders W/NW Thread. Here is a demonstration of the characteristic impressionistic "swirly" bokeh of the Leitz Summitar when shot wide open.

  4. That swirly is very interesting. The out of focus areas appear as if they are on fire.

  7. Thanks! I guess several lenses from the same time period have the same characteristic, but it's really pronounced with the Summitar. There are also doughnuts at the highlight points of the leaves adding to the shimmering effect. Some may find these traits undesirable, but I always liked it.
