Voigtlander (Cosina) quality control pproblem

Recommended Posts

I ordered a Voigtlander 28/3.5 from a New York dealer recently, and

I found a scratch inside the element, I could not find any scratch on

the outside elements. Since Voigtlander does not have an autherized

distributor in USA, how can I make sure the new lens I bought is

quality product? thanks

Dan,

Shoot some images then use a loupe?

Seriously, I also ordered a CV lens from a NY dealer and it showed up with a bunch of dust and adhesive particles inside. I called the dealer, sent it back, received another that was perfect, in 2 days. End of story, Nokton #2 works and looks fine.

regards,

Frank M.

A few years ago I bought a brand new 28mm f2.8 Carl Zeiss Distagon.

After a couple of months I noticed a large particle/flake of crud in between elements and only visible from near the edge of the lens from f5.6 - f2.8 (no affect on images though!)

As it was under guarantee I sent it back to Jessops who sent it to Contax/Kyocera UK who despatched it to Zeiss in Germany. The men in white coats at Zeiss DE took the lens apart did a thorough clean and rebuild and test and sent it back. (I know all this because the Zeiss DE workshop's paperwork, including the technicians initials for each stage of work, was sent back with my lens.)

It performed beautifully after that. Maybe it was psychological but that lens always felt smoother than my other Zeiss/Contax lenses afterwards.
