Any idea who made the 50mm 1.7 Vivitar lens on my v3800n?
Find the serial number of the lens and look at the 1st 2 digits, they generally are used to identify the manufacturer. Vivitar Lens Manufactuers
Thanks! This lens is post 1990 so it doesn't match the code on that list...................

Thank you, Gordon!
Note that the "new" Vivitar has only the name in common with the old Vivitar lenses (Series 1, and such). (LINK)
The old Vivitar had top-quality lenses made for them by various Japanese lens makers.
I think the new Vivitar simply goes with the low bidder
At one time I had this same lens on a different Vivitar body, both of which were made in China, which made me suspect that they may have been made by Seagull (Shanghai Camera). Seagull also made some licensed Minolta copies which were sold under various brand names, including Vivitar (e.g., Vivitar V50).
Seagull is more like it than Cosina as the quality is quite poor. Cosina product quality is quite high.
