albano
Anyone with experience with this zoom? I saw one for a great price and want to know about its quality (and view some online pics taken with it if possible) Thanks in advance
garyowen
I've used one for years and have found them to be surprising sharp and of very high quality. They were built for Vivitar by either Kiron or Takina in Japan , both firms are highly respected optics companys. So I would say go for it! tommyinca
Kiron, Tokina, Komine and other fine lens manufactures made manual focus lens for Vivitar in the 70s and 80s. some off them are still better than some of today's lens. I have had experience with a number copies. Howver, today's auto focus Vivitar are done poorly and don't have much quality control. I would stay away from them and consider Canon's 100-300 non-USM if this is the range and cost that you are looking for.
tommyinca
Just to add, Today's Vivitar are petty much an empty brand name of yesteryears. Tokina, Kiron (Kino, Komine and other have since stop manufacturing for Vivitar in the 80s. The only other lens that they have which still has good recomendation is their 100mm macro lens. russ_butner___portland__or
Albano The Vivitar 70-300 AF zoom that you speak of, is made by Cosina. And it's not all that high quality. It's not a dog, but nothing special. I'd look at the Nikon or Tamron version in that length. Russ
