arthur_mcculloch2
I recently purchased a summaron 35mm f3.5 for use on my M3. I had to have it serviced as the aperture ring had 'come adrift' and would act idiosyncratically. I recently (on a holiday last week) used it and noted that some of the photos (only a small number) had vignetting. These were (from recollection) taken nearly full open aperture. Other shots were fine. It also has a uv filter on it. Has anyone experienced vignetting with this lens? Thanks, Arthur (Apiarist1)
Ed_Ingold
I have a Summaron 35/2.8, which vignettes somewhat when wide open. It's more a matter of geometry than any fault of the optics. It's hardly noticeable though. The smaller the aperture, the more round it appears in the exit pupil. There remains a cosine effect for oblique rays toward the corners. If you are using a hood, make sure it is intended for that lens. Goggles have no effect on image.
christopher_a._junker1
I have the same lens. Wide open it vignettes about 1.5 stops per Erwin Puts. Stopped down it is quite nice beginning at f5.6. I do have and use the lens hood designed just for the 35 Summaron f3.5.
james_elwing
I have one of those with goggles. I call it a 35mm f2.5 or 2.8 for lens detection on the M9. It behaves very well as far as vignetting is concerned.
