david_clark4
I would like to know if there is a difference in the image quality between the Vario Elmar 35-70 and the Olympus Zuiko 35-70 Auto-zoom. Also, could someone tell me if the lens are of comparable size. Thanks
SCL
There were two variations of the Vario Elmar 35-70. Image quality of the second version was better than the first. If you go to the link below, you can see some raw data comparisons on Photozone:http://www.photozone.de/active/survey/querylens.jsp
ant_nio_ferreira
In fact, there were at least four versions of 35-70 Zuikos, and three versions of Leica Elmars. Zuikos: F:3.5-4.5,F:4, F:3.6, F:3.5-4.8 (the later one actually made by Cosina), the best being the 3,6. Opinions vary considering the quality, the former Vario-elmars being quite good, but far from excellent. Mechanically the Leica glass will last a lifetime, although much bigger and heavier.
