I've just bought the first Werra - 2.8 Tessar, green cloth covering - on eBay for £40 (UK pounds). Bought mainly because I remember it from my youth as a slightly wacky but clean design. It appears never to have received any attention in nearly 50 years but still works perfectly.

I was interested in a post elsewhere on the forum that claimed the Tessar on Werras was a duff lens - every Tessar I've ever owned has been quite exceptional for the age of its design. I'd be interested to hear other's views on this.

I guess you are making refrence to this post <http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=002SI8> where most people liked the Tessar but a couple at teh begining. I reccomend that you have a look at the opinion of Alfred Kolmp in his website: <http://cameras.alfredklomp.com/werramatic> I have been surpised by his first impressions of the Tessar too. You can buy any of the test report made by Amateur Photography of the UK in the 50s or 60s about the Werras and its lenses at <http://www.testreports.co.uk/photography/ap/search/mfrsearch.asp?MainMfr=1991>
