stacy
Ok photoshop people. I need your help again... I have a few images where the white background is not quite evenly lit and I need to make it even while holding some tone and I'm making a mess out f it. Can anyone offer any tips for evening out a white background after the fact? I'll show you a detail from the corner... Thank you!<div></div>
petemillis
Here's an idea...select your subject then invert selection so you have the white background selected, then use "colour picker" or whatever it's called in PS to select the bit of the white background that looks best, then "bucket fill" the white background with that colour. petemillis
Better suggestion....use "select by colour" to select the white background, then "colour picker" to choose the bit of white background you like the shade of best, then "bucket fill" to fill the white background with that colour. tobiasfeltus
However, if you want to keep it as a photograph, you might want to try something else: Select/Color Range -> use the picker to select your white, and adjust the slider to get the whole range of white background that you want to even out. hit OK Apple [CTRL] + J -> will copy the selection to a new layer. Apple [CTRL] + I -> will invert this layer to negative. Apple [CTRL] + A -> will select the whole layer. Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Levels ... hit OK ALT + click the square on the left of the adjustment layer will make the page go white... Apple [CTRL] + V ->pastes the inverted layer into the mask on the adjustment. click on the background layer, and turn off the layer you made earlier, or remove it. now double click on the adjustment button of the Levels layer (half black circle) and adjust it. it should only effect the parts of the white that you want to even out with the rest. this might sound complicated, but try it, as it is rather easily done. t
