garry edwards
Scam modelling agencies, which rip off untold thousands of aspiring models (and which, by association, get photographers a bad name) get away with it because the few laws that are supposed to protect their victims are inadequate, and badly policed. But one of their victims is now biting back, he's started an online petition to the Government to make these activities illegal. If you're a U.K. citizen, please go to http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Modelling-Scams/ and add your name to the petition! At present, the only line of defence against these scammers is a few modelling advice sites like http://www.safemodelling.org.uk - this isn't enough and government action is needed. BTW, this is a private posting, the fact that I happen to be involved with PN doesn't indicate PN support for this petition.

chris_waller
I know of several girls who've been conned by one of these scams and, as you say, it gets the profession a bad name.
