jo7hs2
Hey folks, My 350D finally has company in the camera bag, but the new 40D has brought up two questions... 1) Did we ever get any resolution on what this strange empty "MISC" folder is that the 40D seems to automatically create? See thread: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and- a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00MoF5 2) For some reason, on Windows XP, when I view the contents of a CF card via Window's explorer (as in via My Computer->Canon EOS 40D), the names of the RAW files are not displayed, just blank icons. I never had this problem with RAW files on my 350D, and my preferred transfer method is directly via Windows. Any idea on how to get it to show the filenames, because I'd like to be able to discern between the different files before transfer, if need be, and right now that is impossible. They DO have filenames after they are copied.

cabbiinc
have you updated your RAW codec. Go to canons site http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=15653 Theres a Codec update for 5-13-08 for XP. While your there, look at all the other updates that you dont have. If you use DPP its a good update.

jason_hall4
Use a card reader. Solves these problems most every time. Jason
jo7hs2
Dan, Installing the updated codec (and a restart) had no effect. Still a blank icon. Oddly, the file properties list the filename, but it just refuses to display.
jo7hs2
Eh, ignore question #2. I'm a moron, and had it in thumbnail view.
