After the war, Japan experienced a complete overhaul of its national identity, catapulting itself from empire to democracy. Named for the magazine <em>Provoke</em> , which sought to break the rules of traditional photography, this exhibition traces how Japanese photographers responded to their country's shifting social and political atmosphere."<br /> .................<br /> <br /> <strong>Tim Porter - Still Lives</strong> <br /> <strong>Portraits from The Collection of The Congdon Anatomical Museum, Bangkok, Thailand</strong> <br /> <br /> La Petite Mort Gallery Presentation<br /> in Collaboration with the Ottawa Month of Photography<br /> September 5 - 17, 2009 Vernissage Saturday Sept 5, 7 - 10pm<br /> <br /> "In 1988, Tokyo-based photographer Tim Porter gained access through special permission to a very privileged space: the Sirirai Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. For one week only, he had the opportunity to photograph surreal specimens of humanity--conjoined twins.
