Trouble Flattening Fiber-Based Prints

  1. It really was too big for my darkroom, and also I mostly don't use fiber based paper.

But I did have fun with the one in the college darkroom that I used years ago.
  2. I found a large used Seal dry mount press at a frame shop that was going out of business. Not cheap, and very heavy to transport in the back of my Prius. What's more, I had to change the thermostat, which wasn't working. But it now works perfectly. I use it all the time. Trick is to slightly dampen the back of the dry print, making sure not to get any water on the emulsion side. I stick the print between two matt boards for 1.5 to 2 min. at 180-200 degrees. Works perfectly.
  3. I do have a dry-mount press. (I got it from Value Village for $50.)

But I do have one of the two-sided dryers.

Both I have only used a few times.
