as___
I'm looking for a flash with swivel capabilities for my TLR for around $50. The cold shoe is on the side so if I need to bounce of the ceiling i'll need to swivel. Could I just use a Sto-Fen and point direct? Is there a Lumi bouncer that can help? Can I use an AF flash using X-sync? I would buy a bracket BUT it's going to be cumbersome, not good. Any suggestions to stop the flash look on my photos is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
AS
morthcam
Don't you think that a bracket would be less cumbersome and more balanced that the flash sticking out from a side-mounted cold shoe? In general, getting the flash several inches over the lens is one of the best ways to improve on-camera flash; the shadows you're going to get from a side-mounted flash could be a little unusual. don___5
I've used Nikon's SB-26 & SB-26 flashes on my Rollei 2.8GX with no problems. It swivels, tilts to most any position. Of course they sell for a bit more than the budget you are looking at.
thomas_r._young
I have two Yashicamat 124G's with a side mounted "cold" shoe, and I bought a very simple flash bracket with a large base platform and a vertical side bar with wood handle that puts the flash directly over the lens to avoid "red-eye" problems. I use a Sunpak 383 Super with a Quantam Bantam battery and "The Shell" flash modifier. Hope that this helps, best luck, Tom Young
