dalek53
Hi I'm a uk photographer looking to expand my horizons a little and happened accross the programme for 'The Workshops' in Maine. They aren't cheap, and coming all that way I'd prob want to do two or three to make the trip worthwhile. I'd be really keen to here from anyone that's done workshops there as to how they found them. Thanks in anticipation Guy
david cunningham
i've take four or five workshops there. i try to go every summer for a week if possible. i love the place. very communal and an energy that i find inspiring. it really depends on the instructor and fellow workshop participants. beepy
I've done four I think? Great support, great staff, great facities. Great food (Friday night lobster). During the many one week workshops they have longer term summer programs for young photographers (graduating high school etc.) and film making courses so there are a *lot* of people running around being creative. I grabbed one of the actresses to do some shooting during one of my workshops (they advertised on a board that they had some free time). <p> They have many instructors - I simply assume your mileage will vary based on instructor. But overall my experience was great. The location is pretty cool. Give yourself some time on a Saturday before or after to spend at Timothy Whelan's Photography Bookstore in town. (Not sure he is open Sunday). You can waste an afternoon there easily.
