The rebates are ON

Those leaked instant rebates were real.

B&H has the 40D for $939.95 and the 5D for 1899.95.

Yeah, and I just dropped a couple grand on a 17-55/2.8 and 70-200/4 IS in the past two months. Oh well, I couldn't wait...

Dang! I paid $3300 for a 5D on the day it came out in 2005!

Of course, while I don't really have any idea how many shutter activations I've had since then, I can only imagine what that many frames of Velvia would have cost...

The 24-105L lens body kit is discounted too. As are all the 40D lens and body kits.

I waited till the 8th of May and then bought a split kit 5D which was without its included 24-105L from cameta for $2050. I gave up hope of the rebate occuring and saved $150. I then beat the rush and got 2 8gb extremeIII cards that are now sold out (((again))) from B&H. So I paid $150 too much 10 days early but I got me big ole 8gb cf cards. I also have a instore rebate of $100 on the two ExtremeIII's. So $50 per 8gb card is a pretty good deal? If I get my rebates fulfilled.

I wonder now if I'll get a second 5D right before the cash off ends and then sell my Eos-3 film body back up? I'd guess canon will blow out their standing inventory at $1,899 or less in 4 to 6 weeks. I noticed sometimes these cash off items drop price further during the rebate cycle.

That's right -- these are NEW, instant rebates whose existence were posted around a week ago (first on a European discussion group, then all over the dpreview.com forums). <p>

If one is willing to do some selling work, the 5D can be had for <$1600!

Buy a body or a Kit with a 9500 to get additional $350 rebate. Selling the 24-105 and the printer will bring net cost down below $1600.

Some of us did it a few months back with similar promo; average net was ~$1350 for the body.

The TEXT list above is actually wrong with regards to two items, at least: the 70-200 f/4 IS has a $75.00 rebate whereas the non IS model has a $40.00 rebate offer.

The actual poster is correct though so, look at if for the proper discounted/rebate prices.
