Teleconverter for Pentax K200D

Discussion in 'Pentax' started by newengland, Jan 29, 2010.

  1. Looking to know if there is a teleconverter for Pentax K200D that will also work with Sigma 120-400mm lens for same camera. What's best?
There was one on Ebay (Sigma 1.4x DG EX APO AF Teleconverter Lens for Pentax)
but it doesn't list the Sigma 120-400 lens in its list of Sigma compatible lenses. It does however list every other Sigma lens!
    Any help appreciated, thanks!

  2. That lens is HSM focusing only, and Sigma does not have any HSM TCs for Pentax. You'll have to look around internet to see if HSM will work with the Tamron 1.4x MC4 or the Kenko 1.5x with SDM contacts.

  3. The Kenko Pz-AF 1.5X Teleplus MC will not AF with a DA* lens. It will AF with the screw-driven Pentax lenses.
Usually, Sigma TCs only work with Sigma lenses, excepting the HSM variety for Pentax.

  4. A friend of mine has that exact same lens on a K-X and the only TC that worked is the Tamron 1.4 MC-4 . The kenkos did not work the motor.

  5. will someone please explain HSM? and is the Tamron converter any good?
    Thanks,
    JB

  6. forget that last post of mine. I figured out the HSM

  7. John, the Tamron 1.4x MC4 (note the "MC4") is a very good TC. More about it here.

  8. Thanks for the link and thanks to all for your replies. I appreciate it and now at least I feel better informed.
    Thanks again,

  9. Javier, I finally got my hands on a brand new Tamron-F 1.4X Pz-AF MC4. It works fine with the Sigma 120-400mm lens. Autofocus working perfectly.

  10. PS, the TC and lens are mounted to a Pentax K30. I no longer use my K200D
