rickvivian
Yesterday, I posted a critique of the POW using the Ms Word "cut & paste" routine. Naturally enough, the apostrophes and inverted commas have been replaced by question-marks. Interestingly, this only appears when I access my forum posting through the posting history on my workspace. If I access the POW from the PNet home page, the text appears as it was typeset with the apostrophes and inverted commas intact. Why is it so? I don't understand why the same text responds differently. Should I be selecting the HTML option under the text box? Your explanations and advice will be greatly appreciated. fochoa
ask Brian! i guess the oracle database is not set for multilingualism.
rickvivian
Thanks, Fernando. For some reason, I expected Brian to chime in on this one.
mottershead
I don't understand why this happens either, else I would fix it. The Oracle database supports multinational characters and we put the right content-type on the pages, but often they get garbled.

rickvivian
It's a bit "like rubbing the lamp" and the Genie appears. Thanks, Brian. If you get it sorted sometime, I'd love to hear the details. Thanks Fernando, for your input too.
