<p>Not enough screen real estate, processing power, storage read/write speed, or input device (finger!) resolution. Quite possibly a display you can't calibrate, too. I'd be very careful using such a device for tasks other than quick review, file backup, and as a portable portfolio that's had files prepped just for its display. And for that use, the iPad is pretty great.</p>

<p>If you have a Mac, the iPad can be used as the second screen with Photoshop. The connection requires an app but is wireless. The image quality of the iPad beats that of the builtin screen on any laptop Mac. When used with a Mac laptop, the result is a portable system for photo editing that is as good as any desktop.</p>
