Synchronizing multiple cameras in Lightroom?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to sort my images from a wedding with those of the second photographer and the Capture Time sort filter in Lightroom does not seem to work in combining the two camera's files.
I've followed the steps on, (http://callawaygable.com/blog/2010/01/04/how-to-synchronize-multiple-cameras-in-lightroom-for-photographers/) to get the proper time stamps on the second camera but when I look at the Library all of the second shooter's shots are still at the end and not intermingled with mine. Any ideas?

Not sure why that doesn't work, but here's what I do. I load all my files into the computer via the free program DIM (http://www.alanlight.com/dim/Dim.htm) and have it rename all my files according to the time each was taken. I usually just use "hhmm" with a 2 digit suffix. you can also add "yyyydd" to the front and "ss" to the end if you want. The program is smart enough to change the suffix number if the other camera has used the same time name as long as they are all being copied into the same folder. That way all my files are uniquely named and in time order and alphabetical order no matter what program I put them in.

Normally all these are run through Lightroom anyway and I export from there with whatever name system I choose. But sometimes I don't use lightroom, so the renaming to date/time still works.
