lolver
does anyone know what the strength of the little ND filter is that you can get to stick over a Polaroid SX-70 lens? Want to know if it's suitable for another project.
Thanks, Laurence
patrick j dempsey
I know some Polaroids came with a filter for shooting 3000 speed film in daylight. I think they converted 3000 to 100, so that would be 5 stops. I'm not sure of the filter you are talking about, but if it's virtually black, that's probably the one.
lolver
Thanks Patrick but I think that might be too strong. The one I'm talking about allows you to use 600 film in the SX-70.
Here's one: http://www.polapremium.com/shop/accessories/ac_ndfilter
... although it does say "600 film is about 5 times as light-sensitive (=fast) as original SX-70 film" in the specs.
patrick j dempsey
The "70" in SX-70 stands for the film speed... so to get the number of stops you need to count the stops from 70 to 600. 70, 140, 280, 560. That's 3 stops. "5 times as light-sensitive" is a rather non-sensical statement along the lines of "5X zoom lens" that sounds like marketing more than tech. ;)
