john_shriver
So we have both a MZ-3 and a ZX-7 here. (I'll treat MZ and ZX equivalently here.) Both have the infernal quartz date back door. Already ruined some film with that infernal device!
I know I can just remove the battery in the door to make it fool-proof.
Or, I can swap in a non-QD door. But what cameras use the same door? I presume that ZX-3, ZX-5, ZX-5n, and ZX-7 all use the same door. But they still fetch decent prices on eBay. How about the much cheaper ZX-M, ZX-10, ZX-30, ZX-50, and ZX-60, with their nasty plastic KAF2 mounts? The doors sure look the same.
andrewg_ny
I have here a ZX-L, MZ-5n, and ZX-M. The -5n and -M have the standard (non-QD) door, while the ZX-L has the QD door. As far as I can tell (I didn't try the swap or perform precision measurement) they would be interchangeable. So I can at least suggest the '-M' door looks identical to the 5n. I think it's very likely that the other models are also parts compatible in terms of the back door.
john_shriver
Yeah, there's no such thing as a ZX-3, only the MZ-3. (It was never sold in the US. No wonder I had to buy a used one from England.)
