nashvegasphotographer
I've had a SunPak 4000AF that I've used on my Elan 7 and recently purchased a Canon 10D. I have been trying to use this flash on my 10D and it zooms with the lens, but does not fire the flash when I take the shot. Is there some setting on the 10D that I'm missing or will this flash just not work with a 10D? I've searched on the net and it just says that the flash will work with Canon EOS cameras, and the 10D is an EOS. I know this SunPak isn't a top of the line flash, but 99% of my photography is landscape work, so I've never needed anything more. If this flash won't work, I'm gonna go with a Speedlite 550EX, but $300 is a little much right now. Thanks in advance, -J
bill_goldman
EOS digital cameras only work with E-TTL capable flash units and not TTL which requires that flash exposure be read off the film plane. No film plane? That's why it doesn't work. Does your SunPak flash have E-TTL capability? I don't think so, I think you need the SunPak 5000 for that. yakim_peled1
If you are not too demanding (manual control, rear LCD, 7 degrees macro tilt etc.), the 420EX will do just as well, at almost half the price.
