jan_brittenson
If I understand correctly there have only been two versions of the Summilux-R 35: the original dating 1984-1997, and the current (1997-) ROM version. Are there any optical differences, or is the switch to ROM the only change?
paul_huang6
Hi Jan, I have the non-ROM version and have seen the ROM version. Donot see any difference. Cheers, Paul
eliot_rosen1
The only difference is the ROM. The optical formula was never revised.
raymond_tai
I don't know of any specifics but Leica has been known to revise lens formulas without publishing these changes. I understand current German (or EU) laws prohibits certain ingredients in optics such as lead so current lenses must be "environmentally friendly". For a 20 year old lens like the 35mm Summilux-R with the usual Leica fancy glass types one should wonder if anything was changed.
