austinallen
I was wondering what the going rate is to rent a studio by the hour with lighting equipment included. I am planning on renting a studio after the first of the year and would like to offer the space to others when it is not in use to help cover the cost and don't want to over/under charge. neilambrose
Entirely driven by market conditions. It depends on the building, the location, the equipment, the light, the time for which it can be hired or sub-let, and your fixed overheads. Look at commercial studio hire in your area and take it from there. If you're not offering much then price yourself at a discount on the average rate.
eclecticbuzzard
It might also depend on who you are and who you know. If you've made a name for yourself and/or you've spent the time to become friendly with the owners, you're probably eligible for a significant discount. The camera shop that I frequent here in South Florida has a fully equipped studio where they charge $75 an hour. If you know the owner and he likes you, maybe $25/hr. If you bring some hot looking chicks, $0/hr.
