Nice shots. However, I can't bring myself to shoot strangers. To me it just seems rude and obnoxious. If I were to catch someone snapping away at me in public I would likely walk up to them and lay them out. Crowds in a setting I think is OK because the focus is not on a particular individual, but poparazzi-like shooting would likely have the photog staring at the wrong end of a 9mm. However, more power to you, keep 'em coming..

@ME, Thanks for the kind words. At $600.00 bucks it would have been a steel!

@Haig, Thanks. That lens at 300 is as sharp if not sharper than my DA*300 but with the added luxory of the zoom. The draw back is that the lens is huge and heavier than the DA*300.

@Tom, Street shooting is not for everyone and in fact, I would say that there are few of us out there. I believe you have to set limits. I wrote what mine are in the first thread. As far as these images go, These folks where from various churches singing worship songs, hence the closed eyes. I ended up shooting their concert and the kids puppet show as their photographer never showed up. So these shots would not even be considered true street.

@Mis, thanks for the heads up. I will be on the lookout for a 9mm hooked on the end of a Pentax DSLR.

@Jemal, thanks . See answer to Tom regarding the eyes.

Political activist, ''Ted Hayes''
These I shot with my K10D and Sigma 10-20mm lens. The light was extremely harsh, but not much I could do. I do not have the talent to deal with crazy conditions, but I am working on it.

LOL Andrew.. You want me to wear a sign? How's about you just don't sneak photos of me? Like, uh, Javier appears to be doing in his 'city hall' shots.. Assuming he doesn't know the chick, it just seems plain creepy to be sneaking photos of a leggy girl in public.. And if he did, well, then it's not quite so creepy.
Did anyone see the video with Madoff walking down the street with a swarm of photographers and videographers in front of him and catch the one photog who reached out and punched/shoved Madoff? Now don't get me wrong, he (Madoff) deserves to be put through the worst torture imaginable but, that photog tried to provoke him for the sole purpose of 'catching madoff in the act of retaliating'. I think that's just as wrong. Typical paparazzi.

OK, I am really digging this Cosina 55 F/1.2 lens....These where all shot wide open and at only ISO800 on my K10D. Was basically using hyperfocal method and pointing and shooting. Once I had established what I felt the exposer should be. The point is that it was dark and I was not using flash....While NOT sharp by any means, with out this lens, I would not have these shots.....

Javier, I'm not sure how you're using hyperfocal wide open on a 55mm f/1.2. At 10 feet, the depth of field is less than 6 inches!

I'm not advocating taking pictures of people who really don't want their pictures taken. However violent retribution doesn't seem to be warranted either--we are talking about photos captured in a public place with little expectation of privacy, and Javier isn't aiming his camera up women's skirts, either. It would seem to me that conflicts like could be resolved more politely. I've read too many threads on this subject describing instances where this gets way out of hand--photographers stubbornly refusing to delete photos, subjects flying into a rage, police involvement. Enough for me to know that most of my pictures aren't that valuable. Anyway, I don't think that this kind of capturing human scenery has all that much in common with paparazzi tactics or goals.

Thanks Andrew. I have been trying to learn this method and I am not comfortable with it. I have been looking here http://www.dofmaster.com/hyperfocal.html and trying to figure it out. With some of my other Lenses, everything seems to line up properly, but this Cosina is a hit or mis. Most of the pictures I take are in that 10-20 foot range...I asked the question on PF...''On a side note, Do you folks who own this lens end up with allot of hits or misses?

My keeper rate is not very good with this lens in comparing it with some of the others I have. When it hits, it is very good. When it is off, it is very off.''

On a side note: If I where sneaking around to get paparazzi style shots, I would be using my long glass..I have some amazingly great telephoto including my Sigma 500 F/4.5 and so forth. When street shooting, I am very obvious and depending on what it is, most often I offer to e mail these folks the pictures. I always give them my e mail address and have them refer to the image number.
