Street Photography Lawsuit in D.C.

<p>Here's another lawsuit involving street photography. This one is being picked up by the ACLU on the side of the photographer.<br>

<p>If it goes to trial (I don't think it will - they will settle) to police will get creamed. They will settle so that that there is no court precedent set.</p>

<p>That way they can continue with their illegal actions when it suits them.</p>

<p>I agree. This kind of behavior on the part of authorities is just absurd and makes little sense when every new gizmo pushed on consumers contains a camera and HD video. Imagine a day when photographing in public becomes problematic for an American...where are we going?</p>

<p>If I understand these things correctly, and I may not, a case can only be settled out of court if both sides agree to the settlement. If the police are eager to settle to avoid a precedent, then it seems the ACLU would be wise to refuse and see it through the legal process. That would do more to further the cause they're representing than settling would.</p>
