leicaglow
Interesting thought. I was going to fire back that all kinds of paintings from the 19th century on back had animals in them, but upon further thought, I think they were all dead, like hunting or kitchen still lifes. It's a great shot, but I might respond that if the chick was still enough to come out sharp that it was a still life. Everything changes. Even if it was dead, it would change as it decays into dust. Michael R Freeman
Still Life, a pictorial representation of inanimate objects. The term derives from the 17th-century Dutch still-leven, meaning a motionless natural object or objects.
michelle a.
As far as I'm concerned it's not a still life..... sorry. As Michael Freeman says... still life has to do with inanimate objects.... not creature that are obviously alive.
aramat57
It is cute, though! Next time use colored aggs and sell it for an Easter card! :-)

alex_lofquist
"Still life" could be a group of moonshiners testing their product.
randall ellis
I'm going have have to side with Michael here. Look at still life paintings to get an idea of what still life photographic subjects might be. They are usually compositions that have strong lines or forms that are complimentary, or have a number of objects that share some common theme. - Randy
