Hello, I am considering purchasing a 430 EX TTL and using it on my 20D, for

now. I'd appreciate your user comments and advices on possible issues between

these two equipment pieces that I should be aware of prior to purchasing? Also,

is 430 EX TTL a good choice if I moved towards 5D or similar replacement in the

future? Thank you.

For normal use it works very well, the 430EX has faster recycling than the 550`s we have, it also covers all the focus points in the 20d, the only issue we have had is overheating from extreeme heavy use. Its compact and reliable and makes a good slave as it can be used manually.

There's no 'EX TTL' flash - there's the Speedlite 430EX, which is a flash unit capable of using

both TTL and E-TTL flash.

Is that the one you're talking about? The reason I'm being a bit fussy about the name is that

there are actually four Canon flash units with very similar names - the Speedlites 420EZ,

430EZ, 420EX and 430EX. Of the four, the two EX units will work fine with digital cameras like

the 20D, but the two EZ units won't.
