This site sys it's a high voltage batter pack for some Nikon Speedlights, Canon Speedlites (430EZ, 540EZ, 550EX, 580EX only) and Quantum's Q-flash (T models). It uses Quantum Turbo type cords, with the same DIN connector.

It uses 8 AA NiMH batteries and looks like the same basic idea as Canon's CP-E3, but that only works with Canon Speedlites. Note that B&H Photo sells the Speedbox for about $90 less than the above link, but B&H has no info on the product.

BTW, the Canon CP-E3 costs less than $150 for their design, and it works great. Nearly as fast as a Quantum Turbo, half the weight, and 1/3 the price.

I have two of these - they work extremely well - and recycle the Nikon SB800 or Canon

equivalent faster than any other external battery pack system made. But it's not made for

shooting long events such as red carpet or weddings. It's more for that quick news burst /

paparazzi style shooting where you have to shoot your flash as fast as possible for just a few

to a dozen frames at a time. Any battery pack that delivers really fast recycle time will burn

out your flash tube if you fire it off too many times without giving the flash time to cool down

between bursts.
