wogears
Hello!

Just bought a Polaroid Spectra in decent enough condition for a low enough price. :) Got a pack of expired Polaroid film to try it out. Opened the camera, opened the film door and inserted the pack. It went in easily all the way. Closed the film door. Nothing happened. Contacts in camera are clean. Battery in pack seems good. I get a consistent reading of 6 VDC across the foil terminals with my multimeter. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Les
glen_h
If you really want to know, you have to test the battery under load.

But it could be a dead motor or dead some other part.
-- glen
dhbebb
Something is jammed. I can only guess at what this is, but my first hunch would be the film pack. Unlike regular film, Polaroid film deteriorates after its "use by" date, particularly if stored either in hot conditions or frozen (should be kept in refrigerator but not freezer). The pods of processing chemicals can harden or leak. I am not an expert on consumer-model Polaroids but I believe 600 film will fit your camera (pack size is the same, image size a little different).
wogears
David: Just FYI, 600 film won't fit in a Spectra. I ordered a pack of Impossible, and will try that.
