howardstanbury Posted February 5, 2017 Share Posted February 5, 2017
When I bought my NEX-7 it was body only and it inherited the the 18-55 zoom from my old NEX-3, but for sometime I have been interested in the newer 16-50 power zoom kit lens. At last I have found one second hand at a good price and with a 12-month guarantee. The lens is black and so matches the black camera body and is pretty much pocketable with a 24-75 equivalent lens.

<a title="NEX-7 and E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

The NEX-7, along with more recent Sony cameras, can do a lot of image correction in camera, and there is a profile in Lightroom that does the same job, so the extreme barrel distortion and vignetting are compensated for, one way or another.

<a title="Roofline" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

^ NEX-7 and E 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS (further adjustments in Lightroom)

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Norman 202 Posted February 5, 2017 Share Posted February 5, 2017 @Howard, a few of Sony's "cheaper" lenses get bad reviews based on obscure parameters but I have found the 16-50, 16mm and 20mm perform more than adequately due to in-camera optimisations. nice roof top scene Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
howardstanbury Posted February 5, 2017 Author Share Posted February 5, 2017
Thanks, Norman. I have the 16mm prime too and I have always enjoyed results from it, even with the 0.75x ultra wide adapter (which makes it the equivalent of an 18mm rectilinear lens in 35mm terms).
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
