<p>Indeed I was away last weekend, but I did have my camera with me.</p>

<p>The red kite was reintroduced to Britain a few years ago and a colony was subsequently established in the Chilterns, about 20 miles away. They have been very successful and it is not an uncommon sight to see the birds in and around Oxford.</p>

<p>This flock of red pochard took flight as dusk approached at RSPB Otmoor</p>

<p>At the end of the day there is a time when Venus is a bright point in the sky, again at RSPB Otmoor</p>
